On January 1, 2024, South Korea will begin issuing visas for digital nomads.

Foreign visitors to South Korea will be permitted to remain for a maximum of two years under this visa program.

The Korean Ministry of Justice announced the introduction of a new digital visa for foreign nationals in a statement.

As per the statement, individuals who work from home are currently granted tourist visas to enter Korea; however, under the new system, they will be permitted to work and remain in Korea for an extended duration.

There are additional requirements for this program.

Applicants must provide documentation to the South Korean embassy in their nation proving they make eighty-four thousand dollars a year.

Additionally, the applicant needs to provide employment verification documents.

Likewise, candidates must not have a criminal history.

The minimum age for these individuals is eighteen, and they must also possess private health insurance.

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate that they have held the position for at least a year.

These individuals will also be permitted to bring their spouses and minor children after receiving their visas.

Holders of a valid visa will be able to enter and remain in Korea for a year, with the possibility of an additional year.

However, individuals visiting Korea under this visa program will not be able to work for any Korean companies.
